On Growing Up

Oct 29, 2012

So this 'growing up' business. Not sure how I feel about it.

Some days I feel like I've got it together. Other days, notsomuch. But then, I feel like that's just part of life that you have to get used too. Maybe instead of figuring everything out, we just get better at being okay with the not-knowing.

Yes? No? I'm not sure.

But I heard the quote below on the new show Emily Owens M.D. (which I did quite enjoy, and I hope it does well!) and it resonated with me. This growing up business is not for the weak.

Anybody with me? Or have any good thoughts on the matter? Would love to hear from you :)

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Fall Reading List

Oct 24, 2012

Good morning!

Back in June, I shared some of the books I was reading and I thought it would be fun to do another post!

(click on the image of the book to go to the Goodreads page)

The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny - I read this book back in September over the span of a few days. I've read all her previous Inspector Gamache novels and this one was just as excellent. Highly recommend! (Also, if you've never read any of her books, um, you should get on that. Start with Dead Cold.)

Late Nights on Air by Elizabeth Hay - Currently reading this one right now; I'm about halfway through. I like it, it's well written and I like that it's set in the Canadian North, but it's taken me a few weeks and will probably take another few weeks. It's not one of those books that you tear through in a few days and can't put down. But still, it's interesting and I will finish it.

Mr Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan - Haven't read this, but the description fascinates me! Mystery, bookstores, web design - just sounds right up my alley. Have any of you read it? What did you think?? (ps, mom, if you're reading this, it would make an excellent birthday or Christmas present :D)

Seven by Jen Hatmaker - Another book whose premise fascinates me. A 'mutiny against excess'. Have  heard nothing but good things about this book and will hopefully be adding it to my bookshelves soon! Have any of you read it?

And that's what I'm reading or plan-to-be-reading this fall! What's on your nightstand lately?

Currently Loving, Vol 8

Oct 23, 2012

Why hello there! Long time no see friends!

Can't believe it's been two months since my last post...craziness!

Just wanted to pop in, say hello!, let you know I'm still alive & well, and share some things that I'm loving lately :)

Fall! The leaves, the smells, the colours, love everything about this time of year!

Creative & inspiring workspaces...mine is lacking at the moment and I really want/need a designated, proper place to work from.

Warm drinks (tea, apple cider, hot chocolate, so many options!!) & yummy treats :)

Cozy & inviting rooms with fireplaces, squishy couches, and lots of books!

And some wise words that I need to remind myself of more often.

Hope you are all doing well!!
