Save the Date!!!

Good morning!

It's almost here!! META 2012, the fourth year show that we've been planning for months, is almost here!

And I would like to cordially invite you to our opening night on March 29!

The show is open to the public on March 30 & 31, but our opening night is the big party to celebrate everything! We've worked very hard for a very long time now to put this show together and I would be so thrilled if you could make it! The final art pieces from the class are being chosen next week, and I must say, there are some crazy impressive works!

You can click on the image above, or right here to check out our website for more info. When the artists are chosen, that page will be updated as well as the curators page (where you'll find my mug shot! haha)

If you can't make it to opening night but would like to attend on the Friday or Saturday, let me know and I'll let you know when I'll be there to give you a proper tour :)

It's so hard to believe that it's 3 weeks (!!!!!) away after so many months of work. These next 3 weeks are serious crunch time though, so if I miss a day or two of blogging, you'll know why!

Friday Favourites, New Finds Edition

Good morning!

Often when I discover a new blog, I read a couple posts, pin some images, sometimes subscribe if I like what I see, the usual. But when I discover a blog I love, I spend quite a bit of time pouring over old posts, reading all the different pages, following on twitter/pinterest/etc.

The latter is what happened when I found Simple Village Girl via The Everygirl (which I'll talk about in a minute!)

Simply inspiring photography, beautiful words, and a place that felt a bit like an escape. My favourite post might be this one, Clevedon, where you can find the image below.

Comfort

Good morning!

Ah Wednesday. Right in the middle of the week. The weekend ended two days ago, and we must wait another two days for the next weekend. An awful place to be really.

So today, take comfort. For you are not alone on this day. We must all wait for the weekend together. And while we wait, we might as well get comfortable.

Clearly my idea of comfort is pretty easy to define.

I wish for you only the most comforting things. So give a special someone an extra squeeze, put a little extra dash of sugar in your tea, pull that blanket right up to your chin. Take comfort in the little rituals that make you, you.

Crushing on Coral

After yesterday's crazy temperature of 9 degrees (!!!! I've had snow days in April before, so 9 degrees in February is nuts!) I am itching for spring!! And all this lovely coral-ness is just perfect to tide me over :)

I love when you can incorporate a colour into any aspect of your life: beauty, fashion, food or home. I think I need more coral in my life!

Currently Loving Vol. 5

Good evening!

Haven't done one of these posts in a while! And I was in the mood :)

I have been drinking TONS of tea lately :) Started last weekend when we were up at camp and I was helping in the kitchen. The head cook is from Scotland and loves her tea! She constantly had a pot of tea on and it was always tea time :) And then this week I've started making mini pots for myself in the morning, and putting some milk in a little creamer and finding a comfy seat to do some morning work in. It's been rather fabulous :)

This has also been happening to my hair a lot lately. Except a little more messy. (ok fine. WAY more messy haha) The little braid around it is quite cute and I'm thinking I need to try it :)

Totally wish I was spending my weekend in a little stone cottage. Preferably in England, but I'll take rural Ontario :)

Changes & Pretties

Well if you can't tell already, my new blog design is up!! I loved the old font, but I've been wanting something more substantial and solid, so I went with this. And it has a subtle ombre from more brown to more grey. So in love with how everything turned out!!

Friday Favourites, Old & New Edition

Good morning!!

This is my first morning post in a while :) Had the day off yesterday after some crazy midterm-ing so I got a little blogpost prep done last night.

I loved Daniella when she blogged at dress, design, decor, and I love her new blog, daniella marie! She posts the most beautiful images, most taken by her on film. With my new interest in film photography, I'm loving her pictures and series on film photography. She posted this photo she took at a little tea shop this week :) And we know how much I love my tea haha

Jen's post on Pinterest. Her Blog Talk series on Rambling Renovators is fantastic so far, and being an avid pin-ner, her post was perfect! Lots of great ideas for those new to Pinterest and even some for the vets :)

Kerry's new blog design!! She is just the sweetest and when we met up last week she mentioned she was getting First Time Fancy re-designed. It turned out beautifully!

Danielle's review of Alt Summit's online classes. She mentioned it a little while ago on Danielle Oakley Interiors, and with such a positive review from her, I'm thinking I might sign up for some when I'm home for reading week next week...

And, for your weekly dose of pretty, Erica's stylish finds on Moth Design. Girl has design talent coming out the wazoo, so it's no surprise her wardrobe is just as fabulous :) PS, have you ever seen her closet??

Seeing Double

Since finding my dad's old Minolta, film photography has really caught my attention. And while on Etsy the other day, I decided to see if there was anyone using old film cameras. I did expect to find some stuff, but not the beauties I found!

Aqua/Robin's Egg/Mint/Jade/Turquoise

Whatever name you like to give it, I love it!!!

This colour family is possibly my absolute favourite colour. It is so flattering on me and I love how it's sort of seasonless, depending on the shade you choose. And it goes with gold & silver. This colour can do no wrong in my books.

The pants above are from Forever 21. And they are calling my name. I've never owned bright skinnies, I don't even know if they'll suit me, but I don't know if I can pass these ones up! I can picture them with so many outfits.

What are your thoughts on this colour family? What's your favourite??

Studded Velvet (& Other West Elm Goodies!)

Good evening friends!!

Today marked my first visit to West Elm! And I do not think it will be the last haha Me & Kerry had such fun wandering the store with little Halle :) We even spotted Sarah & Tommy buying a few things!

The store was filled with so many beautiful things and I just had to share some of my favourites :)

These velvet cushions were gorgeous! Sumptuous velvet with studded edges make for a fantastic pillow!

These aren't quite the same version they had in store, but the striped hand towels were so fun! I'm such a sucker for anything monogrammed haha (And the fact that the website photo had a B on it helped too hehe)

I will almost always gravitate towards blues & greens over yellows & oranges, so these pretty jugs were right up my alley! They came in tons and tons of sizes, but I liked the mini ones :)

Finally, something I actually purchased! I bought a green and yellow bowl for my mama :) They will be lovely in her kitchen! And they were 50% off, but she doesn't need to know that haha

I also bought a little bronze dish for myself, but there wasn't a photo online. I instagrammed it if you want to check it out :) The pillow in that photo actually came from Homesense! I was walking home after visiting West Elm, where I almost bought a little mini sequined pillow. Very glad I passed on the West Elm one as my Homesense pillow is even better! Happy days in pillow land hahaha

iPad's & Instagram

Good evening!

So this weekend was a little exciting :) I'd been looking a buying a new camera for a while now, and Future Shop was having a sale, so I bought myself a new little point & shoot! Nothing fancy, but my old camera was well, old haha And it was painful to use. So a new camera it was :) It's the Canon Elph 300 I believe and I'm quite happy with it. I would like a DSLR, but I wasn't ready for that investment quite yet.

BUT, while at Future Shop, I noticed they had a few other things on sale. Things I'd also had my eye on. So I might have also bought myself an iPad :D I had been saving for a while, so it was a bit of a splurge but one that I am SO excited about! I love it! Even my mom loves it and is now considering buying one haha She was using it to browse Pinterest the other night and I couldn't tear it away from her hahaha

One of the more exciting things for me was that I can now use Instagram!! I don't have an iPhone, but the app works on iPads too :) So in the spirit of beauty Mondays, here are my nail polish collection and a little shot of my beauty corner on my desk :)

My dad's old Minolta XG-1. Bought some film and started playing around with it this weekend. Can't wait to develop the photos and see how they turn out!

A pretty vase that I bought for my mom just after Christmas. Yes, we do have birds on the wallpaper haha It was up when we bought the house and when your house is 100+ years old, it's safer to keep the wallpaper up!

And my kitty :) I was sitting on the couch playing on my iPad and she came over to flirt and be cute :)

Delicate Silver

Hello hello!!

I've never been a huge jewelry girl. Well, that's not quite right. I have certain pieces that I adore and wear almost everyday. And I have many other pretty pieces, but I'm not one to spend a ton on jewelry for myself. The expensive pieces I do have were all gifts, and I adore them for their sentimentality as much as for the piece itself.

But lately I've been on a bit of an Etsy jewelry kick. And the theme seems to be delicate silver pieces haha

Thoughts on IDS 2012

Good evening!

I know this post is several days late, but school's been super busy lately. Only a few months left to go!

I really enjoyed the Interior Design Show this year! It was actually my first time going, so it was a really fun experience! I went with my mom and aunt and we heard William Yeoward's talk on Saturday and he was just fabulous!

Of all the booths, my favourite had to be the Lissoni one. Why you may ask? Because of the backwards books!

I actually flipped all my books around on my bedroom bookshelf and my mom gave me the funniest look haha And she points it out to everyone that gets the tour haha But I love the look and apparently I'm not the only one!! (The books on my shelf aren't books I read anymore, they're my childhood books. Beatrix Potter, The Royal Diaries, all my favourites in my younger days :) )

I love the clean look that it gives. And trust me, I love a gorgeous book cover, but I didn't really want my Animal Ark books on display haha Turning them around was the perfect solution for me :)

Neutrals & Brights

Good evening!

I decided to do my little bit on IDS tomorrow, so today is a compilation of interiors & fashion. Two lovely things that go oh-so well together :) I haven't done a room-to-outfit post in a long long time, and they're so much fun!

I definitely tend to wear a lot of neutrals (or you know, just a lot of grey. I have a grey sweater in every shade/style possible. And I love them all.), but I do love me some brights. It probably is just a seasonal thing, as I do tend to wear more brights in the summer and neutrals in the winter.

Dang. Can it be summer already? I want that whole outfit. Or just a kelly green pencil skirt. I'd live with that.

Perfume Pretties

Faux Fur Vest + Blue Clutch

Good evening!

I had a sweet post idea all about fur vests. (Faux of course.) I got one for Christmas and I lurve it. I think I might even wear it to the blogger meetup this weekend!

But then Pinterest was being mean and not letting me find all the fabulous images I wanted to find. Sigh.

At least I did have this picture of the fab Olivia Palermo wearing one :)

And wouldn't that little blue number go STUNNINGLY with some fur? My vest is pretty light in tone. Someone told me it looked like rabbit. But it is 70% acrylic and 30% polyester haha No rabbits were harmed for my vest! Although I can't be sure about Palermo's...

Four Posters + Curtains

What do you get when you mix sumptuous curtains and four poster beds?

Some stunningly gorgeous bedrooms!!

That last image is probably my favourite of all time. I adore the colour scheme and those puddling panels just kill me. I'm just swooning over here! So luxurious.

I recently put up some curtains in my bedroom at home, since the room would not accommodate four poster curtains :( The curtains are perfect, if just a few inches short. So I have a DIY planned :) If I can't have beautiful curtains over my bed, at least I can have them on my window.

And I will continue to dream of four poster curtains...

Loving Ombre

I still love it. I really do.

I had 'accidental ombre' a couple years ago when I tried to dye my hair a few shades lighter and it turned super brassy so I let it grow out, thus the unintentional ombre. But now I really want some on-purpose ombre.

Maybe not like, bleached ends, but more subtle, like Kate Beckinsale's hair in these photos. Just some lighter ends. Maybe even more ombre highlights than ombre hair.

Am I totally crazy? Is ombre super uncool now? Would you think I was totally lame? Let me know before I commit!

Elizabeth's BAM or SLAM series on The Mustard Ceiling is one of my favourites, and I usually always BAM her trends. But hooved furniture? It kind of creeps me out a little haha And I have to admit, I've never really noticed it before!!

Alexa of The Short and The Sweet Of It posted this pretty roundup the other day, and I must agree, it is just lovely!! Layered neutral mixes are always a hit with me :)

Stampa & Sara Singh

I came across a fabulous website the other day, Stampa. And what they do is feature a series of artists every single week. The artists work is available to buy for only 4 weeks, but there is no limit to how many prints can be bought in those 4 weeks.

Once I discovered Stampa, I went along and browsed around, but my scrolling and clicking stopped short when I found the work of Sara Singh.

Watercolour, silhouettes, fashion illustrations??? Everything I love :)

I think that first print (Backdrop) might need to find it's way to my room. Like, ASAP.

Styling Frames

Good evening!

I know I've done several posts before this on how much I adore gallery walls & collections of frames, but there really is an art to displaying frames. Whether on the wall or on a ledge, beautifully mixed and styled frames add such a sophistication to a room. They fill it up without making it appear cramped. And they let you show off your favourite things from behind their protective glass.

Frames, whether empty or filled, are one of my favourite accessories. You can see more on my pinboard here.

Nailed It

Over the weekend, I made the discovery of primacreative.tumblr.com. The tumblr of Christina Rinaldi of Prima Creative, her tumblr shows off her amazing nail art, as well as inspiring fashiony things. Serisously though, girl knows her way around a bottle of polish. And most of her designs are based upon fashion items, like a pair of shoes, or a patterned outfit. I even saw a pink lightbulb manicure.

Pretty cool, eh?

Springtime in Paris

As we head into some of the more dreary months here in Canada, I like to keep my inspiration folders full of pretty springtime-esque images :) And nothing is more pretty than the interior of this Ladurée shop! The colour palette reminded me of these super pretty floral arrangements, which are also very springtime-y :)

The Style of Downton

Good evening!

I mentioned it on Monday, but after finishing the second season & Christmas special yesterday, Downton Abbey has become one of my all time favourite shows. The second season is currently airing in North America (aired in the UK last fall), with the first season available on DVD. I don't know if I can wait until September for the third season!

One of my favourite aspects of the show is the beautiful costumes the characters are in. Although the men are dashing in their suits, the Crawley sisters are always impeccably dressed in the most beautiful gowns.

Old Stone House

Good evening!

I think Tuesday is going to be Home Day. I'm almost positive, but it may change. And what better way to kick off Home Day than with some of the most beautiful home exteriors.

Newer home certainly have their benefits, but for me, I simply adore a home with character, and that is one quality that is hard to find in a new build. I love old houses with massive baseboards and heating grates. With their odd little noises and personality quirks. Things like that turn some people off, but I would take a slight draft in my home over a white box any day.

Line It Up

Good evening!

I've decided that Monday's posts will now be hair + beauty related posts, because it is best to start the week off on a beautiful note, don't you agree?

(Might be watching too much Downton Abbey...but can't you just picture Lady Mary's accent saying that sentence above? I think I might be a little obsessed. I've even bought the soundtrack! Please tell me I'm not alone in my love for this show!)

Back to the topic of the post, I adore Lauren Conrad's makeup in the photo below. Her skin looks radiant and her eyes are lined perfectly. Must figure out how to achieve this look.

I've been doing my liner similarly to the third photo for a while now and I love how it looks. I think to achieve Lauren's look I would start the eyeliner 1/3 of the way across the eye, and then put just a little liner underneath. I'm not a fan of too much eyeliner underneath my eye, but I think when used sparingly, it can be very effective.

Future Plans

As the new year begins and my graduation date looms around the corner, thoughts of what to do with my future and the future of my blog swim around in my head. I do have a little plan in my head, so hopefully I can roll out some changes here over the next few months. Don't want to spill all the beans just yet, but I will say it involves a little of the following :)

Might need to buy this print and make it my new mantra :)

When I started a year ago, I was reading a few blogs, but not that many. I still read almost every one of those blogs, and there is 3 or 4 of them on the list today. By no means is this an extensive list; I wanted to keep it at a manageable number and include my very very favourites. In no particular order, my favourite Canadian bloggers!!

Barbara of hodge:podge is one of those truly lovely people that always have the nicest things to say. Her blog is filled with fab DIYs, beautiful inspirations, and one of my favourite series, So Canadian, Eh?

Bijour & Boheme is one of those blogs that you can't look away from. When you first visit the world of Christine, you will be filled with the most beautiful images and inspirations. She scours the web for only the best finds, and she has found some serious gems!

Formerly of dress design decor, Daniella started her new blog to share little snippets of her life, as well as her love of design. She takes most of the photographs on her blog, and it is a beautifully curated selection.

Kerry and her husband have been fixing up their home since they bought it, and First Time Fancy chronicles that, along with Kerry's inspirations and dream travel destinations :) There's also some of the new baby, Halle, who is just so sweet and cute!

Another blog that mainly chronicles the reno of a couple's home, but with a sense of style and humour that make it stand out from the rest. They just completed a beautiful bathroom reno, and are currently expecting a little baby!!

Next up, again in no particular order, my favourite international bloggers!!

Rachel has created a blog that is full of the most beautiful photos! Fashion, home, beauty, she covers all things pretty :)

I had to put Leigh's blog in my favourites because not only is she a fabulous artist, but her blog is full of gorgeous inspirations. From art to fashion, Create is a beautiful blog!

Shelly of a'la mode is truly one of the kindest bloggers I have met. I helped her with a few projects this past summer, and she could not have been more sweet. If you haven't seen her home, it is a must!

Michaela is a fellow university student and the same age as me, so I've always appreciated how beautiful she keeps her blog throughout the stresses of school. She has fabulous taste & style!

Carolyn of tilly | maison on Etsy has a beautiful blog where she shares her new products, as well as images that inspire her. Her blog is as beautiful as the trays she creates :)

And finally, my favourite fashion & beauty blogs!

I first discovered Laura when she Youtube-d & blogged under the name lollipop26 a couple years ago. She left the blog world for a little while, but when I found she had started her new blog, I was so excited! She is a fabulous & classy lady with a love of all things beauty & fashion & pretty :)

I discovered Sydney's blog through Pinterest, and I was hooked from the moment I saw her style! She is a gorgeous girl with fabulous style. Her and her husband had their first little baby a few months ago and he is so sweet. One of my favourite places to go for fashion inspiration!

Anna is a beauty & fashion blogger/vlogger based in Ireland. Her style is very classic & neutral, but always classy and put together. I adore her sense of style and her beauty videos are always full of fabulous ideas!

I'll probably publish this post and then think of at least 5 more blogs that I should have included haha Thankyou to all of you for creating these beautiful blogs and keeping my inspiration folder full of beautiful things :)

Favourite Designers of 2011

Good evening!

Looking back last year on some of my favourite designers, I blogged about the work of both Sarah Richardson and Robert & Cortney Novogratz. I still adore their work, but this year of blogging has really let me discover some of the most fabulously talented designers.

I think I must have been living under a rock to not have known about the ridiculously gorgeous work of Meredith Heron & team. So many beautiful rooms, if you haven't looked through their portfolio, it's an absolute must! And Meredith's blog is one of my daily reads, you must check it out if you haven't already. She loves to give little sneak peaks of her projects and I always seem to have a smile on my face when I leave :)

Elle Uy is a designer I've been following since before I started my blog. It's been so fun to see her start her first project, and now have so many finished and even published!

Nichole Loiacono's Parlour blog is another that I've been following for most of 2011, and I always liked her blog and home. But when she revealed this client's office, I was floored. Beyond stunning!

I discovered the work of Eileen Kathryn Boyd through an issue of Lonny from a long while ago, and I've never been able to forget her work and style. I love her use and mix of colour and pattern, so very fun!

Michaela is still an interior design student, but from the projects she's revealed, she has a bright future!! I just adore her college bedroom, and she is an absolute sweetheart! Her blog is one of my favourites :)

Favourite Books of 2011

There are so many beautiful design & decor books out there, it can be hard to know what ones to buy first! My collection of them isn't too big yet, but the ones I have I adore!

I received The Perfectly Imperfect Home from my mom for Christmas and I devoured it the same day. I adore the illustrations, the chapter titles, the way Deborah Needleman writes, it's all so fabulous. You MUST buy this if you don't have it already!

I've been a follower of Design*Sponge for several years now, so when I first heard about the book I knew it was going to be good! If you love the site, you will love this book!

I admired this book from afar at Chapters, the $80 price tag scaring me off. But when I found it for $20 at Winners of all places, there was no way it wasn't coming home with me :) This book is filled with beautiful images and fascinating histories. If you've ever admired a beautifully made chair, this one is for you!

I think this book has achieved classic status. If you look hard enough, you can spot it in almost every design lover's book pile. I adore the way it's laid out and the design of the book itself is beautiful. Full of inspiration, it is wonderfully written and crafted.

I received this book for Christmas last year, and tore through it. I love the Novogratz's style, and this book shows you each of the fantastic homes they've created throughout the years. If you enjoy the Novogratz, you will love this book!

Favourite Art & Artists of 2011

Good evening!!

One of my posts last year in my first week of blogging was on my favourite art. And I had to do a follow up this year to showcase my favourites, some new & some old, but all absolutely beautiful.

First up & no surprise really, is the fantastic Leigh Viner. Her work has been a favourite of mine for over 2 years, and I am SO excited that I now finally own the piece below! My phone's been acting up, but as soon as I figure it out, I'll post a photo of her all pretty in her frame :) SO gorgeous people.

I discovered the piece below through Christine of Bijou & Boheme who did a feature on Saatchi Online a few months ago. I've never been to Madrid, which is depicted in the painting below, but it looks absolutely beautiful! I love the colours and the style of Paula's work.

If you haven't heard of Jen Ramos's Cocoa & Hearts, where have you been? The fabulous blogger behind MadebyGirl opened up her gallery this year and has created some beautiful stuff!

Swalla Studio was an Etsy shop I discovered on my internet trawls, and I just fell in love with this piece below. I love the swirls, the colours, and the softness.

I think I found Nina Moscrip's work around this time last year, and I love her quirky illustrations just as much now as I did then. Her work is so fun and has so much personality, I just love her stuff!

One Year Later

One year ago today, I started this blog. It blows my mind a little haha To think that one year ago today exactly, I typed up my first blog post, and blogged for 365 days. Pretty crazy stuff.

Accept the Quirks

Good evening!

It finally snowed!!! There is a lovely little blanket of white goodness on the ground :) Not much, but just enough to cover the grass and give the bushes their winter coat.

Right now, I love it! Come February, I probably won't as much haha But it's par for the course when you live in Canada. And since I can't change it, might as well learn to like it :)

A thought struck me the other day during a conversation with my mom and grandma. Someone had asked my mom if we do this every year, and we have. Every year since before I was born. Some years people have been missing, but never more than one or two. And I realized that although our family has it's problems, all families have their issues, and I don't think I'd trade mine for anyone's. I love our little dysfunctions and quirks. They're ours, and I wouldn't change one thing :)

Day After

Good evening!

Just like that, it all ends. The craziness of the last week is finally over and my real holiday begins :)

After all the people and places I've seen over the past few days, I need to be antisocial for a while haha That probably sounds strange, but I'm an introvert, so while I love my friends and family, too much of them is where my limit ends. Tomorrow I have nothing planned and I hope to read my book and catch up on some blogs and sit by a fire and drink some tea :) And then I'll be ready to tackle whatever else happens on my holiday!

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Bit of an odd collection of images, but hopefully they will make sense in a minute. I love the colour palette of soft greys and silvers; I love and appreciate all things gold, but I think I will always be a silver girl.

Christmastime seems to always bring out the crazy. Whether it's a relative or the hoards of people shopping, and people often have a hard time this time of year. And if you do, remember the good. And be thankful for it. Because you are most likely so so blessed in so many ways you take for granted.

Always Be Thankful

Hello again friends!!

I've missed you! These past few days have been long, but my grandpa's funeral today was lovely. It really was a celebration of a life well-lived. So many friends and family came out and it was wonderful to hear the stories of my grandpa throughout his life.

This week was certainly not what I was expecting to come home to after exams, but it's been so fun to spend so much time with my cousins, who are usually spread all over the country. We'll be gathering again tomorrow for Christmas Eve as well, so by the end, I think I'll have seen some of my family more in this one week than I have in the past year.

This passage was read three times today, in a different version every time. It was an unplanned, but lovely accident. I just wanted to share it here as well.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. In Heaven

Dear friends,

I cannot thankyou enough for the kind words you have left this week. You truly are some of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I want to give each and every one of you a big hug! You are truly so kind and I feel so very blessed.

My grandfather passed away yesterday. It was not a surprise or a shock, he was very sick for the last 4 or 5 years, and the doctors did not think he would pull through this time. We were to an extent, prepared for the news, but it is still very sad, especially for my grandma. However, he is no longer suffering in this world and has gone to join his Lord in heaven, so that is indeed a blessing for him.

The next few days will be busy with planning and sorting, with visitations and funeral later in the week. I was so looking forward to catching up on all your blogs this week after the stress of exams, but that will once again have to wait until after Christmas.

My daily makeup routine 'rut' as of late has involved a plain lid with a thick black winged eyeliner. Super classy and chic, and it's even mother-approved haha And I've been wearing it so much that I've got my system down pat :)

Sometimes it's nice to not have to think about your makeup because you know what looks good. I'll definitely be pulling out this look over the holidays! Do you have a look that you've been wearing a lot too?

My grandpa has not been well for a long time now, but it looks as though his time is close. I am one paragraph away from finishing my semester!!! Just have to write the concluding paragraph for my essay and I am donezo! Soooooo excited!!!! :D

Going home for Christmas tomorrow and I have the next three weeks to spend some time relaxing with the famjam, eating way too much, and working on a few little projects :)

I actually pulled all the images for this post last week, but it was gold week so I couldn't share it then. Seems even more appropriate now with Tangerine Tango being the colour of the year and all :)

With the end of this semester so very close, the realization that I have ONE semester left of university blows my mind. In some ways, I don't feel very different from the young 17-year old that started 3 years ago, but in other ways, I know I've changed a lot. With graduation less than 6 months away, thoughts of what to do after have started spinning. It doesn't help that so so many people have been asking me what I'm going to do.

But I'm going to pray & trust that God has a plan for me and it's going to be pretty awesome :)

No Friday Favourites today :( I have an essay that is just killing me. It must be all the holiday goodness in the air, but I have not been able to concentrate on it and it's taking 5x longer than it should to get it done. But it's 90% there.

It is still gold week though!! Today is all about pretty gold lighting. I love the way gold light warms up a space and makes it seem so inviting :) It's especially helpful in this cold weather when extra warmth is a must!

Just a quick gold post this evening as I have some exciting news to share!

But first, the gold-ness. I just adore a hit of gold in a piece of art. The circle thing below is just stunning, and of course, Jen's paintings on Cocoa & Hearts are just gorg! I think she even put up some new paintings with gold just today :)

If you haven't already seen on my Twitter, I am interning with the fabulous Leigh Viner! I sent her an email a few weeks ago when she mentioned something in passing about needing an intern and now it's official! :D I could not be more thrilled to get a chance to work with her; she is just so ridiculously talented!

I first discovered her work all the way back in the summer of 2009 when I discovered Etsy. When I started my second year of university that fall, we had to present something that inspired us to the class and I shared Leigh's work. Her print Twilight Blue has been my favourite ever since I first saw it over two years ago, and I was so excited to finally be able to order it a few weeks ago! It is now on its way to me and I can't wait to frame it and style it all up :D

Please check out Leigh's work if you haven't already, I promise you will not be sorry you did!

Twenty-One

Good morning friends!!!

Today is going to be a lovely day :) Why, you may ask? Because it is my birthday!!!

When I lived in residence, my suite-mates decorated my door. I didn't even notice it until I'd been awake for like 20 minutes haha

Yup. It's definitely one of those little things that puts a smile on your face :)

True story. Standing there awkwardly is just so awkward haha And it's not like you can join in the singing. That would just make it more awkward. Any one have any good ideas? Do you just stand there awkwardly too? haha

And lots of cake for you!! Because what kind of birthday girl would I be if I didn't share my cake??

I won't actually being eating any cake today (that'll come tomorrow at my family birthday party thing) but if you were joining us for dinner, I would definitely share my crème brûlée with you :)

And yes, I am turning the big 2-1!! Very exciting stuff :) Don't know entirely what my mom has planned for today, all I know is we're going out for dinner tonight, which we've done every year since my 16th. And I always get my crème brûlée haha I am very excited for that :)

Just wanted to share a massive thankyou to everyone who has made these eleven months of blogging so wonderful! I feel so lucky to have found all of you and this lovely little community :) Your wonderful support and unfailing kindness is enough of a present for me :)

It's December!!! A month of birthdays and parties and giving and for me, this one last time, it's full of exams and essays. Booo. But by next December, those will be a thing of the past. That's kinda strange to think about...

Anywhoo, this December is going to be fab :) I go home tomorrow for my birthday on Saturday, and then I have a week at home before exams start. And then exams are done and it's Christmas time!!

I've always liked pretty paper. I used to work at a printing place and I used to love going through the paper sample books. There was one paper that honestly felt like silk. That stuff was crazy awesome.

And so is what I have for you today! Flakes Paperie is another beautiful shop that is featured at the One of a Kind Show this week. Her calendar was gorgeous in person!

Good evening!

After my class this morning, I was invited to tag along with my good friend & her mom to the One of a Kind show here in Toronto! It was so much fun to see all the beautiful things and taste all the yummy foods!!

My favourite stall had to be Jenna Rose. She had the most beautiful fabric creations, and when she told us that she designed and printed them all herself I was even more smitten!!

If you have a chance, you should check out her booth at the show! It's booth E20 I believe, and she has even more gorgeous products that she created just for the show including the sweetest pouches (which I'm kind of mad I didn't grab!) and fab handbags!

Greige means raw or unfinished, and is an elegant color that mixes grey and beige. I love greige used as a neutral in any room in the home. Magical Snow

The past couple of days have consisted of me not doing very much of anything. With exams and essay due dates looming, life just seems to get put on hold for a brief time. But one thing has me very excited for the end of school,

SNOW!

Now, I know what you're thinking. And trust me, I dislike it too. But for those first few weeks, when it transforms the bleak grey & brown of the city into a white wonderland, I adore it!

And then by January it can melt ASAP please&thankyou.

Anyone else excited for the first snow? I'm secretly hoping it happens on my birthday :)

Cable Knit

This cold weather has me getting into hibernation mode, which is not very good as I have several essays and exams due in the next few weeks haha But all I want to do is snuggle up under a cable knit blanket and read my book. (Currently reading Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards, and my mom just got the new Flavia de Luce novel I am Half Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley so I'm excited to read that when I go home next!)

I am totally dreaming of these cozy spaces (and possibly ways to avoid doing my homework haha sorry mom!)

I stumbled upon a fantastic site today, have you heard of it? It's Dear Photograh. It was started last May by a young RIM employee and it is now his full time job. Crazy!

Basically, you take a picture of a picture from the past in the present.

All the photos have stories behind them. I found these photos throughout the first four pages, so if you wanted you could go find their stories. Some of them are sad, but some of them are really lovely.

Most days, I leave my nail polish pretty simple. One colour on all 10 fingers, and every so often, a little sparkle topcoat on my ring finger. But with my birthday & the holidays approaching, I want to do something more fun! Different colours, rhinestones, polka dots, or even a different pattern on every nail!
